The Dallas County Sheriff’s Department made four meth related arrests this past week.

On Thursday, 42-year-old Audra Tate, of Selma, and 41-year-old Keith Neely, of Valley Grande, were arrested and each charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, trafficking meth and manufacturing meth. Neely was also charged one count of probation violation.

On Saturday, 42-year-old Misty Sanders, of Selma, and 37-year-old Tony Mitchell, of Maplesville, were arrested and each charged with unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance, trafficking meth, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

“Meth is a big problem in Dallas County,” said District Attorney Michael Jackson.

DCSD’s investigator Dewayne Sanders said both sets of arrests were made after following up information on suspicious activity.

Sanders said an active meth lab was discovered off County Road 269 in Valley Grande and another was found behind a residence on County Road 63 in Plantersville.

“Any time that we can get people that make drugs off the streets, that’s a big plus because you don’t want young folks hooked on drugs,” Jackson said.

“Illegal drugs are a dangerous thing.”

DCSD’s Capt. Roy Freine said the DCSD doesn’t have officers trained in handling the removal of meth labs.

When the department encounters the issue, a task force from Bibb County Sheriff’s Department assists.

The cases remain under investigation.
