A 54-year-old woman was shot in the face during a shooting Thursday evening on Washington Street.
Selma police officers responded to a gunshot victim at Vaughan Regional Medical Center’s emergency room around 7 p.m. The victim was shot once on the right side of her face, according to police chief John Brock.
From interviewing the victim, investigators were able to determine the shooting happened on the 1500 block of Washington Street.
The victim was stabilized and transported by helicopter to the University of Alabama at Birmingham for further treatment.
“Detectives have been working the scene and interviewing witnesses,” Brock said. “No suspects have been identified as of yet.”
Witnesses reported seeing a white Honda Accord outside the residence at the time of the shooting, said Lt. Sam Miller in a press release, and three unknown black males occupied the vehicle.
Brock said the motive and series of events is still being determined.
Anyone with information regarding the shooting is encouraged to call the secret witness line at (334) 874-2190 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-422-7463.
