An ex-felon was arrested Wednesday and given multiple charges, including ex-felon in possession of a firearm.
Camarcus Simpson, 32, of Selma, was arrested and charged with one count each of ex-felon in possession of a firearm, third-degree assault and resisting arrest. He was given bonds totaling $62,000 and is currently held at the Dallas County Jail.
“This is somebody we needed to get off the streets,” said District Attorney Michael Jackson. “One of these gang folks using a gun regularly.”
Jackson said Simpson pled guilty to discharging a firearm into an occupied building/vehicle in May 2011. Jackson said Simpson’s history also includes conviction of a discharging into an unoccupied building/vehicle charge.
“It was good work by the police department,” Jackson said about the arrest.
Jackson said Simpson will appear in court next week for arraignment.
