First Baptist Church is looking to bring the community together by hosting a City Wide Revival next Tuesday.
The City Wide Revival is a one-night celebration of faith, churches and religion that hopes to bring the whole Selma community together to worship.
“I’m hoping that this will be an opportunity where at least once a year, everyone regardless of race, can just come together for our city as well as to worship God together,” said Pastor Frederick Hardy, organizer of the revival services.
The church normally has a three-night revival, but opted to spice things up this year by introducing the one night revival. Hardy hopes to make the City Wide Revival an annual event.
“I hope that the community will gain a knowledge of Christ and know that he can bless us to do well as a community if we just praise him on one accord,” Hardy said.
Special guests at the celebration include 104.3 FM’s Yvette Bullard-Dillard and The Tabernacle of Praise Worship Group.
There will also be a special appearance by Pastor David Alexander Bullock, a cast member of the Oxygen series Preachers of Detroit.
Known for his outspoken personality, Bullock immediately caught the attention of Hardy and instantly became a fan after watching the show.
“I was impressed by his leadership abilities and his involvement in growing the city of Detroit in making it better,” Hardy said.
Hardy believes that the event is a start in making a better environment for the community.
“I’m hoping that we all can come together to worship Christ and have a good time,” Hardy said.
The celebration will be Tuesday, Aug. 9 at 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church, located at 709 Martin Luther King, Jr. Street. The event is open to the public.
