Tickets are on sale for Sturdivant Hall’s annual Barbecue on the Green fundraiser and if the last few years are any indication, they will probably be sold quickly.

The barbecue is one of the museum’s main fundraisers and will take place Thursday, Sept. 15 from 6-9 p.m. Plates are $25 each and will include food from Golden Ranch Bar-B-Q & Grill.

“This is our main fundraiser,” said Mary Hansell, who serves as the director for Sturdivant Hall.

Tickets can be purchased at Butler Truax Jewelers, Swift Drug Company, Sturdivant Hall or the Selma-Dallas County Chamber of Commerce. There are 500 tickets available for sale.

“Sturdivant Hall is a very old historic building and the upkeep is very expensive,” said Sandy Greene, a board member with Sturdivant. “This is the only big fundraiser and also it is a yearly event that the public expects every year, and they look forward to it.”
