It was a relatively quiet holiday weekend for the Selma Police Department, but there were still several incidents. Lt. Sam Miller said there was a shooting reported, where a man found a stolen gun and then accidentally shot himself in the leg and his girlfriend in the foot. When the gun fired, the bullet struck both of them. The department was still investigating the incident Tuesday morning. “If you find a gun, call the police,” Miler said. “Don’t attempt to clear the weapon, don’t put your fingerprints on it. Call us. Let us come and secure it and get it turned in.” Another incident took place early Thursday morning. Officers were dispatched to St. Phillips Street in reference to a robbery. A man and woman went to the Wells Fargo on Citizens Parkway to get some money from the ATM at 12:20 a.m. While there, the man noticed a suspicious vehicle. When they arrived home, the man went to the front door, while the woman stayed in the vehicle. The man said he was robbed of the $640 he got from the bank by a man wearing blue jean shorts, a white shirt, white and red shoes and a black mask. The man got his money and fled on foot. Miller said the incident is still under investigation.
