The future of Meadowview Christian’s volleyball team is looking bright.
The Trojans’ varsity team is set to host a sub-state match next week and has advanced deep into the Alabama Christian Athletic Association. The school’s junior varsity team is playing pretty well too.
The Meadowview JV team wrapped up a 17-0 season with a win over Chilton Christian last week and will host a regional tournament game Saturday that will determine who gets to play for the state championship.
“They stay together and they play,” said coach Tim Burton. “I don’t think they’ve really thought about the fact that they were winning every game. They just enjoyed playing.”
The team has been so good that three of the players have also played a role on the team’s varsity. Reagan Burton, Erin McIntyre and Kenley Kaufman have all been moved up to varsity at times this season.
Hope Smith, Kaylee Chancey, KaLee Jones, Baylee House, Lauren Ross and Taylor Greene are also on the JV team.
“They control the ball very well. Everybody on the team has got good control and all of them want to win,” Burton said.
Burton was not sure who the Trojans would be playing on Saturday when contacted for the story.
