Dallas County is on the verge of the class 5A playoffs following Thursday night’s 41-14 victory over Jemison.
The Hornets (4-4, 3-2) led 41-0 after three quarters in a dominant showing in a key class 5A, region 3 contest. Dallas County coach Marty Smith said it was some of the best football he’s seen his team play this year.
“For three quarters, was probably the best three quarters of football we’ve played all year,” Smith said.
Darrell Moorer scored on a 55-yard run to cap a three-play drive to begin the game.
After Jemison went three-and-out, the Hornets struck again on a touchdown throw from Octavious Palmer to Kedrick Wilson.
“Being able to score on our first two drives set the tone for the night,” Smith said.
Dallas County can clinch a playoff spot on Friday if Marbury defeats Central Tuscaloosa in another region 3 game.
The Hornets will play at Central Tuscaloosa next week.
