Central Coosa (5-4) topped Southside 33-18 Friday night, denying the Panthers (6-3) a chance to clinch a playoff berth in class 3A, region 3.
Southside coach Daniel Flowers said his team had four touchdowns called back due to penalties. Chris Edwards, DeQuan Johnson and Malik Johnson scored touchdowns for the Panthers in the game.
Southside’s loss creates a three-way tie for third and fourth in class 3A, region 3 with Prattville Christian and Central Coosa. The tiebreaker is likely to be broken by tiebreaker L in the Alabama High School Athletic Association sports book.
Tiebreaker L uses wins over non-region opponents (in the same class, above or within two classes below) to determine the tiebreaker, meaning next week’s games will factor into it.
The Panthers will host Ellwood Christian Thursday at Memorial Stadium.
