Nelda Cogle Pope

Nelda Cogle Pope, age 87, a homemaker of Dixon Mills, died Oct. 16, 2016, at her home. She was born May 28, 1929, in Dixon Mills to B.A. and Rosa Quarles Cogle. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Dixon Mills.

She is survived by her son, Thomas Stuart (Katy) Pope of Selma; daughter, Lynn Pope (Joe) Lewis of Camden; four sisters, Erin Cogle Jowers of Leeds, Annie Lee Cogle Williams of Dixons Mills, Natalie Cogle Harrington of Thomasville and Margaret Cogle Prentice of Blythewood, South Carolina; sister-in-law, Tommie Sue Cogle of Marion Junction; seven grandchildren, Vera Lewis (Bill) Spinks, Wade Lewis, Jessica Pope (James) Roberts, Adam Pope, Ashlee Hagan, Steve (Kristie) Hagan and Tony (Crissy) Hagan; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. “T.J.” Pope; and son, Mark Cogle Pope.

Visitation will be held at Central Baptist Church on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service time with the Rev. Matthew Bryant and the Rev. Leon Harrison officiating.
