David M. Smith, age 78, passed away, Oct. 28, 2016.  David was a long time employee and owner of Adler Furniture. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Velma Smith Sr.; and sister, Lillian Ruth Smitherman.

David is survived by his wife of 59 years, Roberta B. Smith; daughter, Debra (John) Brock; sons, David L. (Bonnie) Smith and George W. (Marylin) Smith; brother, Kenneth L. (Brenda) Smith; and sister, Velma June Owens; grandchildren, Stacy (Ryan) King, Stephanie (Morgan) Yarbrough, Clayton K. Smith, David Eric Smith, Chris (Hannah) Crutchfield, Andrew (Morgan) Smith; great-grandchildren; Colton King, Jackson and Hayes Yarbrough, Ethan, Ellis and Isabella Crutchfield and Lucas Smith; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Monday, Oct. 31 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of  Selma Funeral Home with Dr. Jerry Light officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in New Live Oak Cemetery with Selma Funeral Home directing.

Serving as pallbearers  will be Morgan Yarbrough, Ryan King, Clayton Smith, Chris Crutchfield, Eric Smith and Ricky McConico.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to First Baptist Church of Selma or the Homestead Hospice of Cahaba.
