Wildcat proves too much for Bears

Keith had no answer for New Brockton’s rushing attack Friday night in the first round of the class 2A playoffs.
The Bears (6-5) rallied to within five in the second quarter, but couldn’t stop New Brockton’s “Wildcat” package in a 45-16 loss.
“They were in a “Wildcat” package most of the game and we never had an answer for that “Wildcat” sweep and the “Wildcat” counter and power,” said Keith coach Harry Crum.
Keith was in a 21-0 hole early, but the Bears rallied to score 16 straight points. Domonique Jones had a 50-yard touchdown run and Jeashan Black added the two-point conversion. Jared Edwards tossed a 10-yard touchdown pass to Black to make the score 21-14. A two-point conversion run by Marquez Hatcher brought Keith within 21-16 with just a few minutes to play in the first half.
“I thought we were about to make a move,” Crum said.
Instead, New Brockton’s “Wildcat” package proved to be too much.
“We didn’t tackle well tonight and that was the story of the game,” Crum said.
