A Selma Christmas tradition is returning to the Walton Theater in December.

The annual Holiday House, a fundraiser for the Old Depot Museum, is coming back for its 38th year Dec. 5 through Dec. 17.

The Holiday House is a shop that features arts, crafts and food from local vendors, giving people plenty of gift options to purchase for their loved ones this holiday season.

“We have a lot of people that will come in and buy all of their Christmas there because they know it supports the museum,” said Candi Duncan, who helps organize the sale. “It’s a good way for small business people in Selma, you know people that make their own crafts, to make their Christmas money.”

Duncan said the shop, which will be open from 9:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., will have something for everyone, whether it is jewelry, handmade ornaments or hand-crafted Christmas decorations.

“You have close to 30 vendors all in one spot at one time, and if you come in and look you’ve still got a few more days to decide if you want to buy it today or tomorrow because you can go there for two full weeks,” Duncan said.

The shop, which also helps local artists and crafters, will give shoppers unique gifts that can’t be found on the shelves at other stores.

“We have all kinds of different gift items. Some of them are almost one of a kind,” she said. “Because there are so many vendors, you can get something very unique from each one of them.”

Duncan said the sale is a great way to help the museum raise money, and citizens always come out to the shop to show their support.

“The city of Selma has always been very supportive of us, even when we had to move,” Duncan said.

A different food vendor will also be set up each day with different holiday treats.

“They’ll have cakes and candies and things that people can buy,” Duncan said.

The shop will also be open late during movie nights at the Walton. Duncan said the times would vary depending on the movie, but she plans on hanging a banner outside to let people know which nights the shop will be open longer.
