It’s starting to look a lot like Christmas in Selma. The downtown area has been decorated and the weather is turning colder.
While we aren’t expecting any snow—just a little rain is a welcomed sight right now — there are plenty of upcoming events to get you into the Christmas spirit. Here’s a look at what figures to be a busy month of December:
The city of Selma will host the annual Christmas parade Saturday on Broad Street at 10 a.m. The theme this year is “All hearts come home for Christmas.” The parade is always a lot of fun for the whole family and Santa Claus is scheduled to make an appearance at the end.
On Sunday, the Selma Choral Society will hold the 69th annual performance of The Messiah at 3 p.m. at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church. This year’s performance will feature choruses from the first part of the oratorio.
Vaughan Regional Medical Center will hold its first annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. at the flag pole in front of the hospital. The Selma High School choir will perform at the ceremony.
The town of Orrville hosts its first annual Christmas parade on Dec. 10 at 4 p.m. at the community center. Orrville’s Christmas tree lighting will follow directly after the parade.
The town of Minter will hold the Minter Millennium Christmas Parade on Dec. 10 on Highway 4 in Minter. Lineup for entries is 9-9:45 a.m. and the parade will begin at 10:30 a.m.
