All in Sports Outreach, city hosting free softball camp

All in Sports Outreach and the city of Selma Parks and Recreation Department are partnering to host a free softball camp Saturday at Bloch Park from 9 a.m. until noon.
The camp is for girls 9-16 years old and organizers expect it to be beneficial to anyone who plays the game or wants to learn, regardless of skill level.
“We break it down, no matter what skill level you are at. This camp is for you,” said Jamie Tellier with All in One Sports Outreach. “We will break it down and act like you don’t know what you’re doing and those that do or have played before, you will still be able to learn something that you probably have not learned before. We break it down and make it real simple for everybody.”
Tellier and Gerald Barron, the city’s baseball director, have worked on spreading the word in recent weeks. Barron has taken flyers to each of the local schools.
Last year, many current and former college players with Selma ties came back as volunteers at the camp. About 30 players took part in that camp, the first softball camp All in Sports had held.
Tellier is hoping to have at least that many this time around.
To register online, visit www.allinsportsoutreach.org. Registration will also be held at Bloch Park Saturday.
All in Sports is also hosting a coat and blanket drive now through Dec. 10. Drop-off bins are located at Church Street United Methodist Church and Cleaner Clothes Dry Cleaning. The coats and blankets should be in new or like new condition. All sizes are being accepted.
