A gang task force organized by District Attorney Michael Jackson was back on the streets Thursday afternoon.

Larry Colston, commander of the Fourth Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force, said three arrests were made Thursday at Chanticleer and Valley Creek Apartments, all involving drugs.

Shavonta Moore, 23, Jarious Moore, 22, and Daryion Simpson, 23, were all arrested by the task force and booked at the Dallas County Jail.

When the task force pulled into Chanticleer Apartments on Woodrow Avenue Thursday afternoon, Colston said Shavonta Moore took off running.

Moore was stopped by officers, who found multiple bags of synthetic marijuana in his possession.

Colston said Moore was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and could face charges for intent to distribute because of how many bags he had in his possession. Colston said officers confiscated 10 to 12 packages of synthetic marijuana from him.

“A lot of them take it out of these packs it comes in, and they’ll put it in smaller bags and sell it,” Colston said. “It’s real bad. Some of these people think it’s like weed, and when they smoke it they strip out of their clothes and act crazy. It makes them do crazy stuff.”

The task force also arrested Jarious Moore, who had a warrant out for his arrest for allegedly selling drugs.

“We had two counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance on him, and we also got a pistol off him, so he’s got a pistol without a permit charge,” Colston said. “He came looking for the other Moore guy we arrested. They’re related. And when he came looking for him, we got him.”

The third arrest was made on Dallas Avenue at Valley Creek Apartments. Colston said Valley Creek is one of the task force’s target areas because of recent crime reported there.

“We’ve been having a lot of problems out at Valley Creek with them shooting and standing out and selling drugs and stuff,” Colston said. “We work that area pretty hard.”

Simpson was charged with probation violation and possession of marijuana.
