Communities put on Christmas events

Weather can be tricky when planning anything around Christmas.
But thankfully, organizers were able to get in Christmas events in Selma last week before the rain as well as in Valley Grande, Orrville, Minter and Jones on Saturday despite chilly weather.
These events take several weeks if not months of planning and organizing to pull off each year, and we appreciate those who volunteer their time to make them as fun and festive for their communities as they can.
Organizers donate their time and talents to make these community events a reality and deserve a big pat on the back.
Parades and festivals are a great way to bring the community together and celebrate all the season has to offer. From seeing old friends and making new ones, these activities are sure to bring out the best in everyone.
Watching a child’s face light up when their favorite character goes by, and when they catch their favorite piece of candy makes it all worth it, and we just want to thank those people for being so selfless in organizing the events.
High school and college marching bands also spend time preparing as well as those who dance or build a float.
If you have never been to a local parade or tree lightning, consider participating in or at least attending one in the future.
