For the third straight year, Bush Hog teamed up with the Joy to Life Foundation to provide women and men in the state a higher chance of early detection and prevention of breast cancer.

The two have been working to “Mow Down Breast Cancer” through a campaign where people all over the country purchased a $10 chance to win a Bush Hog pink zero turn mower.

“To us it’s important,” said Bush Hog president Gerald Worthington. “We’re a company that’s been here for 65 years, and we believe in giving back to the community wherever we can.”

Worthington said he believes in giving back to his community and doing so through the Joy to Life Foundation is a sure way to give back to something that has affected nearly everyone is some way.

“We’ve had employees, we’ve had spouses of employees, family members that have all been stricken by breast cancer, so it’s near and dear to our heart. It’s a good cause,” Worthington said. “We’re part of this community and we have family that works here, lives here. We’re always trying to do what we can to take care of the community.”

At the end of the campaign, Bush Hog raised $10,000 for the foundation, totaling $25,000 over the last three years.

Joy Blondheim, co-founder and director of Joy to Life, said the money raised is a blessing to the foundation and she is so thankful to Bush Hog for their continued support.

“The money that they give us is beyond impactful to us,” Blondheim said. “We are now able to help women of all ages in Alabama, not just a certain segment, and part of the reason for that is the Bush Hog donation. It allows us to move our mission forward in ways that we never dreamed we could do.”

The foundation helps women and men with mammograms and screenings among other necessities for breast health.

“Every $10, every $1 means a lot to us,” Blondheim said. “I just want to say from all of us at Joy to Life, I’m not sure we’ll ever be able to adequately thank Bush Hog enough for what they do for the Joy to Life Foundation.To Bush Hog, we just say thank you from the bottom of heart.”
