Jacquetta Dailey was on fire Friday night and the Selma Saints were more than happy to keep feeding her the ball. Dailey scored 22 points and knocked down three 3-pointers as the Selma topped rival Southside 55-23.

Tasharri Grimes chipped in 11 points for the Saints and Jamya Smith had 6 thanks to a couple of first quarter 3-pointers.

“We got a chance to look at everybody tonight in the second half. We played some of the younger girls to get that experience,” said Selma coach Anthony Harris. “I told them we’ve got to get better every night.”

Southside (6-5) finished off one of its toughest weeks of the season looking a bit fatigued. The Panthers played R.C. Hatch, area rival Montevallo and Selma in a five-day stretch.

“This week we played three games and each team had one loss. This is the gauntlet of the schedule,” said Southside coach Ed Dean. “Coming out of 1-2, I’m happy with that. We still have momentum coming and we are going to take it into the tournament and look forward to the start of January.”

Sherita Benjamin had 5 points to lead the Panthers in the game.

Selma led 41-13 at halftime and 50-17 after three quarters.

With the outcome decided, both teams played their younger players in the second half.
