Asa Anderson Boswell

Asa Anderson Boswell died on January 11, 2011 after a lengthy illness. He was born in Toomsuba, MS on November 20, 1919 and was the youngest of nine children. He has resided in Bedford, VA for the past 50 years and retired from Owens Illinois Company in Big Island, VA after 40 years as Logging Superintedent. Asa was an outdoorsman and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He kept his family supplied with wild meat and fish. He was happiest when he was in his home garden or in the woods. He was preceeded in death by his wife Norma Helm Boswell and is survived by one daughter, Conya Gail Lohmeyer of Bedford. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be Friday from 6PM-8PM at Burch Messier Funeral Home in Bedford. Burial will be held at New Live Oak Cemetery, Selma, Alabama, Sunday, January 16, 3:00 p.m., directed by Burch Messier Funeral Home.

Asa was a member of the National Wildlife Turkey Federation, VFW, American Legion, BPO Elks, Woodmen of the World, American Legion, Loyal Order of the Moose, Big Island Hunting Club, and the Ponderosa Club. He will be greatly missed by a host of friends and family.

In lieu of flowers and food, the family suggests memorial gifts be made to Bedford Humane Society, Safe Harboor Community Church, or charity of choice.
