About 30 minutes ago, a Selma police officer was involved in an accident at Highland Avenue and Franklin Street. The officer is injured. A helicopter is being brought in from an unidentified hospital to transport the officer. Authorities are asking that people do not gather in the area of the accident. The helicopter will land in the parking lot of Elkdale Baptist Church.
