A 31-year-old Selma man has been charged with first-degree assault after allegedly shooting another man the day after Christmas.
Shawn Brown was arrested Thursday at 4:30 p.m. after evidence led detectives to the alleged shooter.
According to a press release from interim Selma Police Chief Johnny King, the shooting happened Monday, Dec. 26 around midnight on the 2100 block of Royal Street.
Brown allegedly shot a black male in his 30s. According to King, a preliminary investigation determined an argument took place prior to the shooting. No further details of what took place have been released as of Friday.
The victim was initially transported to Vaughan Regional Medical Center before being transported to an “out of county” medical center for further treatment and observation.
After detectives with the SPD Criminal Investigation Division arrested Brown, he was taken to the Dallas County Jail, where he was booked. He is being held on $100,000 bond.
First-degree assault is a Class B felony with a punishment of no less than two years of jail time and no more than 20, as well as fines up to $30,000. He is now out on bond.
