Retiring Selma Police Chief John Brock deserves a round of applause. Brock served the city of Selma for 30 years, starting out as dispatcher at the age of 17 and finishing his career as the top cop.
It was a special moment Friday night when he walked into Tally Ho restaurant and was greeted by his family, friends and current and retired officers for a surprise party.
Three decades is a long time to do anything, especially being a police officer. Selmians should thank Brock for his service and the dedication he had to serving the city and its people.
It was obvious Brock will be missed by the stories told by former Selma Police Chief Earnest Tate, interim Police Chief Johnny King and others.
