Sewell makes wager on game

As the University of Alabama and Clemson University vie for the second consecutive year for the College Football National Playoff Championship, Congresswoman Terri Sewell from Selma and Congressman Jeff Duncan of South Carolina made a friendly wager on which team will win this year’s title.
At stake – Chick fil-A and bragging rights.
“My colleague Congressman Jeff Duncan must not have learned from last year. The Alabama Crimson Tide is on a roll for back to back national title wins. Given that Alabama’s defense is arguably better this year than the one faced by Clemson last year, the Tigers will have a long night on Jan. 9,” Sewell said. “It is too bad that Congressman Duncan and his staff will face defeat for a second straight year. Roll Tide Roll!”
Duncan said he is looking forward to the matchup.
“It’s exciting to have the Clemson Tigers back in the championship game against a familiar foe, the Alabama Crimson Tide. Though the Tigers ended last year with a bitter taste in their mouths, we’ve used that disappointment to grow and fuel the fight back to the top again,” Duncan said. “There is no other team in the country I’d rather play than Alabama. It’s a great opportunity to win back some lost pride, and an even greater opportunity to have Rep. Sewell on record with photo evidence wearing Tiger orange. Go Tiger!.”
If the University of Alabama secures a victory, Duncan has agreed to wear Alabama paraphernalia for a photo on the steps of the U.S. Capitol and will provide Chick fil-A for the Congresswoman and her office.
Similarly, should Clemson University win, Sewell has agreed to treat Duncan’s office to Chick fil-A and will pose for a picture on the U.S. Capitol steps dressed in Clemson apparel.
Alabama will face Clemson in the College Football Playoff Championship Game on Monday, Jan. 9, at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. The game will be broadcast on ESPN at 7 p.m. Central Time.
