After the 2016 election cycle, any doubt the mainstream media doesn’t have a political leaning was completely eliminated. The tainting of hard news with political ideology has become commonplace. Personally, I do not wholly believe a thing they report. I realize they twist and form their reporting to benefit liberal objectives to the point of it being completely untrustworthy. There is just enough substance in their reporting to tickle the intellect of the uninformed into believing it as gospel. When the founding fathers established the First Amendment, this type dishonesty was certainly not the motivation for granting freedom of the press. Freedom of the press was established free of any political ideology partially as a watchdog over politicians and  government. As Jack Webb, Sgt. Joe Friday on Dragnet, used to say, ”just the facts, ma’am.” Well, I think what most folks want is factual news in its unbiased purest form, not altered or distorted by a news reporters political views.

Honest hard news journalism has become an endangered vocation. Our colleges and institutions of higher education seem to be indoctrination centers. Liberal professors are bending the minds of vulnerable young people with their philosophy and liberal driven agendas. Much like the time honored profession of journalism, some teachers and professors have become tainted with the morals and convictions of a portion of society turned from God.

There is a vast difference in hard news and opinions on news or other topics. You find opinions on the opinion page of your newspaper and certain TV programs. Opinions are what I do except when reporting on an event or chronicling a public servant or veterans achievements. Opinions are like noses, everyone has one, and are entitled to it. Some of us are more apt to express ours than others, but everyone has that right. The problem comes in when newscasters inject their reporting with their personal beliefs, aspirations or opinions without clarifying the fact, it is just their conclusion. Most all networks are biased and slanted toward an agenda not supported by me. In my opinion, network news and the media in general are partially responsible for the hostile environment created against law enforcement officers. 

Another troubling aspect of network news is the attempt to cast whatever cause or whomever they are against as being un-American, out of touch, prejudicial or politically incorrect. It is prevalent in every newscast and quite frankly they go to lengths to show the negative side if it conflicts with their agenda.

Talk about a lesson on intolerance, perhaps they should do some soul searching before accusing someone else of the same thing.

It is up to the electorate to determine who serves and who doesn’t, not some paid network talking head.
