Roundup: Selma girls finish undefeated in area play

Selma 59, Stanhope Elmore 27 (Girls)
Selma (22-1) will host the class 6A, area 5 tournament after dominating Stanhope Elmore 59-27 Friday night. Jamya Smith led three Saints in double figures with 15 points.
Kynadra Lewis had 11 points and Areyana Williams scored 10 for the Saints.
Since area 5 is only a three-team tournament, Selma will receive a bye in the first round of the area tournament, which will take place in early February. The top teams advance to the sub-regional round of the playoffs, so Selma is guaranteed to advance that far.
Dallas County 55, Southside 40 (Boys)
Andre Hall scored 15 points and Mario Simmons 14 as Dallas County (15-4) topped Southside 55-40 Friday night.
Josh Benford also chipped in 8 points for the Hornets, who led by 18 after the third quarter.
Southside 45, Dallas County 34 (Girls)
Kylan Brown scored 13 points and Christina Watts had 12 as Southside topped Dallas County 45-34 on Friday night.
Kionah Page joined them in double figures with 11 and Sharita Benjamin had 9.
Ellwood Christian 47, Maplesville 44 (Boys)
No. 8 ranked Ellwood Christian knocked off Maplesville 47-44 on Friday night.
The Eagles were led by Loveless Craig, who had 20 points and 10 rebounds. Justin Bufford also had 10 points, 5 steals and 5 assists.
Tuscaloosa Christian 65, Meadowview 45 (Boys)
Garrett Grantham scored 11 points and had 6 rebounds to lead Meadowview Christian, but the Trojans fell to Tuscaloosa Christian 65-45 on Friday. Justin McGuire had a double-double for Meadowview (10-5) with 10 points and 15 rebounds.
Pike Liberal Arts 56, Morgan Academy 52 (Boys)
Morgan Academy lost to Pike Liberal Arts 56-52 in the semifinals of the class AAA, region 2 tournament at Fort Dale Friday.
Mason Perkins scored 9 points and brought in 7 rebounds to lead the Senators (9-10) in scoring. Dione Allen had 8 points and Sawyer Hopkins, Colton Roberts and Britton Adams had 7 points apiece.
