Concordia College Alabama received accreditation from the Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation last week. It was big news for those who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes, such as Dr. Constance Smith Hendricks, the director of the school’s nursing program.

Hendricks went to Concordia to start the program and has aw her hard work pay off when the accreditation news came in. It was also important for the four students in this year’s program, who took a chance in a first year program and ended up blazing a path for future nursing students at Concordia.

It was also exciting to hear of the collaboration planned between Wallace Community College Selma, one of the highest rated nursing programs in the state, and Concordia, which would build on any junior college education.

Hendricks repeatedly said during our interview with her that she wanted good nurses to come to Concordia and that she’d help them advance in their career.

Well, Wallace has plenty of good nurses walking the halls and many of them will likely want to continue their education. Concordia just gave them the option of doing that right here in Selma.
