Work began this week on the streetscaping project on Water Avenue. Work crews have blocked off parts of the street, where they are working, and they are cutting up parts of the sidewalk.

The project will stretch two blocks from Broad Street to Church Street on the north half of the west side of Water Avenue.

The project is being funded by a grant from the Alabama Department of Transportation for around $400,000.

The project is supposed to be completed by mid-summer, so there are several months of work ahead. We encourage anyone driving to be aware of the construction areas and show patience when making your way through them.
