Club gives scholarships to a dozen local students

The Dallas-Wilcox Bama Club awarded 12 scholarships on Monday night totaling $21,000 to students that will be attending the University of Alabama this upcoming fall.
The winners came from high schools all around the county — Selma, Morgan Academy, Southside, Dallas County and Wilcox Academy — and every student we talked to was extremely humbled to be among the recipients.
The price of college tuition isn’t cheap and it’s continued to skyrocket in recent years. Rooting interests aside, the University of Alabama is obviously one of the best colleges in our state, so it’s easy to see why so many local students want to make the short drive there.
But it’s also hard to make it happen. This scholarship will help students get started on their college journey.
Each year the Bama Club finds a way to give out more and more scholarship money to local students. The club is part of the National Alumni Association and always more than achieves at its main purpose — to provide scholarships to incoming students.
We want to say congratulations to this year’s scholarship winners, who each appear to have a bright future ahead of them.
