The Dallas County Family Resource Center is planning a Tinsel Trail fundraiser this holiday season in order to help them improve their services for Dallas County residents. The FRC is a 501 (c) 3 whose mission is to serve as a central location “to access, assist and connect low income families and individuals in the Selma/Dallas County area who are in need with existing resources.”
The Tinsel Trail fundraiser will provide a free, festive and fun activity for families to enjoy, according to staff member Amy Carmichael. The FRC will be selling regular and large sized trees for local business to sponsor and decorate. The trees will be on display at Riverfront Park for everyone to see.
“Tinsel Trail is where businesses sponsor trees along the riverfront. They will come out and decorate the trees or have a sign advertising their business,” Carmichael said. “There will be a social media favorite and different contests for the best decorated tree. The proceeds, if there is a profit, will go to our center.”
Sponsorships for a regular size tree is $250 and $500 for a large tree. They will be setup and ready to be decorated after Thanksgiving. The goal is to have all the trees decorated in time for the grand opening of the Tinsel Trail on Dec. 2. The sponsored trees will remain up throughout the holiday season, according to Carmichael. The larger anchor trees will be given the prime spots along the trail. In order to participate, send checks to the Dallas County Family Resource Center, P.O. Box 2142, Selma, AL, 36702.
