A high-speed chase through part of Selma Wednesday led to the arrest of two Selma men, one of which is suspected of stealing a Prattville woman’s car at gunpoint early Monday morning.

Octavius Reynolds, 23, has been charged with charged with attempting to elude law enforcement, second-degree possession of marijuana and first-degree receiving stolen property, and Keenan Reynolds, 20, has been charged with robbery.

Lt. Tory Neely with the Selma Police Department said the Prattville Police Department alerted them of a stolen black Nissan Sentra that could be in the area, and the vehicle was spotted near Wendy’s on Highland Avenue Wednesday around noon.

That’s when the pursuit of the stolen vehicle with two men inside began.

“An officer made contact with the vehicle, and a car chase ensued,” Neely said.

Police scanner traffic indicated the chase reached speeds excess of 90 miles per hour. The chase went down Alabama Highway 14 East for several miles until the stolen car turned down Dallas County Road 306.

Neely said the two men, who he said are brothers, bailed out of the car while it was still moving, and the car crashed.

That led to a pursuit in the woods, where Octavius Reynolds was apprehended. The Dallas County Sheriff’s Department aided in the chase and pursuit of the suspects.

“Later on that night, the second suspect, Keenan Reynolds, was taken into custody by a patrol officer,” Neely said.

“We received a phone call that he was located at a residence here in Selma, and that’s when an officer made contact with him and took him into custody.”

Neely said Keenan was taken to the Selma Police Department, where investigators with the Prattville Police Department interviewed him and transported him back to Prattville. Octavius, who is not a suspect in the carjacking, was booked into the Dallas County Jail on bonds totaling $50,000. He made bail. Keenan was booked into the Autauga Metro Jail on a $60,000 bond.

The Sentra was stolen Monday morning around 12:30 a.m. in the parking lot of Blue Iguana Grill and Bama Lanes in Prattville.

“When she parked, there was another vehicle that pulled in, a white Toyota Tacoma. It pulled in from a different direction than she did, and it parked one car over from her,” said Captain Jeff Hassell with the Prattville Police Department.

“While she was parking and still had her lights on, two black males exit that truck and come up to her on the driver and passenger side of the vehicle pointing guns at her.”

Hassell said the two men forced the victim out of the car, jumped in and took off.

“They stole her car, and the third male, who was driving the white truck, drives off in a totally different direction,” Hassell said.

Hassell said the department is still looking for the other two suspects in the carjacking, and they also believe the white Toyota Tacoma with black rims could be stolen as well.

“Unfortunately, Keenan is not cooperating enough to get information from him,” Hassell said.
