The Morgan Academy varsity and junior varsity cheerleaders won awards at the AISA UCA camp at Huntingdon College in July.
The varsity squad won first place in extreme routine, cheer, sideline, game day and in West Camp Champs.
They also came in third-place for home pom.
The cheerleaders compete against other AISA cheer leading squads over the course of three days, according to coach Alex Harrelson.
“While we’re there we learn material that the UCA has to offer,” Harrelson said. “That’s dances, stunts, cheers, sideline and how to be a better cheer leader, essentially.”
The cheerleaders were recognized for their accomplishments during halftime at the Morgan Academy football game this past Friday.
“I was extremely excited,” Harrelson said. “They worked very, very hard as a team to achieve a goal that they have wanted to achieve for a very long time.”
Seniors Sara Catherine Plummer, Louise Stewart and Lauren Thomas were all named UCA All-Americans along with fellow senior Lauren Thomas.
The junior varsity unit won first place in extreme, second-place in West Camp Champs and home pom. They came in third in sideline and fourth-place in cheer and game day.
Freshmen Erin Odom, Mary Alan Ousley, Kirstie Paige Morgan and McKinley Fuller were named UCA All-Americans.
