A fire on Dallas County Road 39 Tuesday that claimed the life of two Dallas County residents is still under investigation according to Alabama State Fire Marshall Ed Paulk.
The fire, which took place at 6543 County Road 39, claimed the life of Bertha Yeager, 99, and James Barlow, 77.
Investigators were back on the scene Friday, Paulk said.
“Right now the cause of the fire is undetermined,” he said. “The damage to the home was so extensive we have not been able to find the origin.”
Early investigations, Paulk said, indicate the fire was an accident.
“We have found no evidence of criminal activity,” he said.
Services for Yeager have not been announced. Lawrence Brown Funeral Home is handling the funeral.
Miller Funeral Service will also announce services for Barlow at a later date.
Jeb Harrison, a deputy for the state Fire Marshall’s office, was in Selma Friday to further investigate the cause of the fire.
