Bears, Hornets, Senators and Trojans continue to post season play

The high school baseball regular season has ended and playoffs begin Friday for Meadowview Christian, Dallas County, Morgan Academy and Keith High School.
The Meadowview Christian Trojans (14-4) is undefeated in Alabama Christian Athletic Association (ACAA) games this season with a 6-0 region record, and just one region game left to play against Tuscaloosa Christian.
The Trojans clinched first place with a 7-1 win over New Life Tuesday afternoon, and secured its spot in the ACEA state tournament. The team made it to last year’s state tournament, but finished in third place after a 3-2 loss to Tabernacle in the opening round.
Meadowview still has five games remaining in the regular season as they prepare for the 2018 ACAA state tournament scheduled for May 12-13 in Millbrook.
The Dallas County Hornets begins its area tournament on the road in Calera Friday afternoon to start a best-of-three series against Calera. The Hornets finished second in the region behind Demopolis, and ahead of Central Tuscaloosa and Sumter Central. The top two teams from the area tournament advance to the state tournament. Game one against Calera is set to start at 4 p.m.
The Morgan Academy Senators (15-15) have won 10 of their last 11 games going into Friday’s first round AISA series against Lakeside. The Senators earned the third-seed this season, and will meet Lakeside in the first-round like they did last post season. Morgan Academy defeated Lakeside to advance last season, and are close to firing on all cylinders heading into the game according to head coach Seth Currie.
The Keith High School Bears (7-5) finished in first-place in Class 2A Area 7 with a 4-0 area record. The Bears will host the first round of the playoffs against Area 6 runner-up Goshen at 1 p.m. Friday at Meadowview Christian School.
Keith and Goshen will play a best-of-three series to determine who will advance to the second-round and face the winner of Ariton and Horse Bend.
