Alabama State fans in Selma got a taste of what the school’s football team will look like this fall on Saturdays. The team scrimmaged Saturday at Memorial Stadium. The Hornets’ practice was free and open to the public.
Head football coach Donald Hill-Eley said holding the scrimmage in Selma was a way to increase the school’s presence and show people in Selma what the future of the football program looks like.
We’re glad ASU chose to come to Selma and give people something different to do and enjoy. It isn’t very often a college football team comes to Selma.
We’re hopeful this scrimmage is the start of a growing relationship between Alabama State and the city of Selma.
When Council President Corey Bowie announced the scrimmage last month, he said he hoped to see ASU in Selma for future events.
