Looking for a new place to dine? The Oasis Restaurant on Highland Avenue might be just what you are looking for.
The restaurant, which opened Friday, has already created a buzz around town.
Co-owner Jay Irfan said though this is his first venture into the restaurant business, he feels the Oasis will be able to offer something Dallas County and Black Belt residents can enjoy.
“I had talked about it and was coming up with some ideas,” he said. “We felt like a restaurant would work here and found this location, renovated it and decided to see what would happen.”
The Oasis features a buffet style format with many different dishes, Irfan said.
“We have Mongolian-style food, steaks and most anything that comes to mind,” he said. “We have a lot of items on the menu.”
Desserts, Irfan said, also vary on a daily basis.
In addition to good food, the Oasis has also brought jobs to Dallas County. In its early stages, the restaurant employs 13 people.
Irfan said in his two days of business he has already gotten a lot of foot traffic and even inquiries for parties as large as 50.
“We’ve had a lot of people coming in,” he said.
At some point, Irfan said he would also like to in corporate a 50s night into the Tuesday rotation.
Irfan said he would like to encourage everyone to see what the Oasis is all about.
“Come out and check it out,” he said. “Come have a nice dinner.”
The restaurant is open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week.
