The Alabama Independent School Association (AISA) Athletic Committee unanimously voted to allow Meadowview Christian School participate as a member school in athletics for the 2018-2019 school year Tuesday afternoon.

Meadowview Christian School’s baseball, basketball, softball, track and field and volleyball teams will participate in AISA competition, but the football program will not.

Meadowview left the AISA after the 2013-14 season, but is happy to be returning to the AISA for the upcoming school year.

“We felt like it was better for our school and an opportunity for us to grow,” Meadowview’s new headmaster and football coach Bob Taylor said. “The Alabama Christian Education Association has been a wonderful organization, but we felt like moving back to AISA is our best opportunity as a school to grow at the moment.”

The Meadowview Christian School Board unanimously approved the decision to move back to the AISA during its last board meeting.

Then it was presented and accepted by the AISA Athletic Committee, which sent out the region realignments Tuesday.

Meadowview will be in the Class A Region 2 Area 2 for all AISA sports.

The baseball, basketball and softball teams will be in an Area with Jackson Academy, Snook Christian Academy and Sparta Academy.

The volleyball teams Area will include Escambia Academy, Jackson Academy, Marengo Academy, Snook Christian Academy and Wilcox Academy.

Taylor previously coached at Morgan Academy, and is familiar with the other schools in the AISA. The switch also provides more exposure for the school and its athletes.

“I think it’s a good move for our programs in the regard of being able to compete against people we are familiar with,” Taylor said. “It will be a little step up for us competition-wise. You want to compete against the better competition when you can, and we feel like this is a good move for us to be able to rise our program a little bit.”
