Remember the soldiers who have given so much, including the ultimate sacrifice

On each Memorial Day, it is hoped that all citizens, at least for a day, can truly appreciate the sacrifices made by the men and women in uniform. These brave souls put their lives on the line daily, but do not get the appreciation they deserve year-round.
While holidays like Memorial Day pay tribute to veterans and those who have lost their lives fighting for America, it important for residents all over the country to use this holiday as a reminder to respect these individuals seven days a week, 365 days a year.
For people who are willing to sacrifice it all just so the majority of us can live in peace is not something deserving of praise once or twice a year. It is something that deserves praise each and every day. Yet, these humble men and women oftentimes don’t even look for a pat on the back. That is the type of people they are.
While it is nice to have a day off of work to spend time with friends and family, remember what the day is meant for. Remember that Memorial Day is not a 24-hour appreciation period, but a reminder to appreciate veterans and the fallen all the time.
