The 12U Selma all-star baseball team went 3-0 at the district tournament in Monroeville this past weekend.
The team defeated tournament host Monroeville all-stars 17-9 on Friday. They shutout Eclectic 16-0 Saturday morning, and defeated Holtville 18-2 later that evening.
“I feel really good about this team,” 12U Selma all-stars head coach Andre Lamar said. “This group is unbelievable, and they’ve been unbelievable since they were nine.”
The team got key contributions over the weekend from players like Marquavious Reese, DeAndre Chestnut, Quindarious Chambers, Sharod Martin and Tariq Mangram, according to Lamar.
“We’re going to lean on those guys real hard to take us far this summer,” he said. “We’re looking to have a great summer.”
The three-wins setup the Selma 12U all-stars to host Monroeville for a best-of-three series at the Dallas County Sports Complex this weekend for the district championship. The district champ would then advance to the state tournament.
