The Selma Dallas County Public Library has planned the fall lineup for its Lunch at the Library series. This fall, the library will start the series by celebrating Alabama’s birthday.

Alabama was founded Dec.  14, 1819, and next year will mark the state’s 200th   birthday. There are celebratory plans throughout the state to celebrate the landmark year.

The library will start off its lunch series on Sept. 13 from noon until 2 p.m.
There will be a presentation of “Alabama: The History of a Deep South State, Bicentennial Edition” by William Warren Rogers, Robert David Ward, Leah Rawls Atkins and Wayne Flynt. Flynt and Atkins will be presenting.

The celebration will continue on Oct. 4 from noon until 12:30 p.m. as Herbert James Lewis presents “Alabama Founders: Fourteen Political and Military Leaders Who Shaped Our State”.

The lunches will continue throughout the fall.  

On Nov. 8 from noon until 2 p.m. there will be a visit from artist Nan Cunningham. There will be showings and demonstrations during the presentation and the seats are limited.

Patti Callahan Henry will present “Becoming Mrs. Lewis: The Improbable Love Story of Joy Davidman and C.S. Lewis” on Nov. 29 from noon until 2 p.m.

Becky Nichols, executive director of the Selma Dallas County Public Library, will close out the series on Dec. 6 noon to 2 p.m. as the presents, “Shabby and Chic with Becky Nichols.” Nichols will provide holiday ideas, festive foods and fellowship. There is limited seating for this lunch series as well.
