Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation Selma (TRHT) in partnership with the Black Belt Community Foundation (BBCF), the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and the Selma Center for Nonviolence, Truth and Reconciliation will host a public input session at the Edmundite Missions Bosco Nutrition Center located at 1107 Griffin Ave.
The event will take place on Thursday, Aug. 30 at 5 p.m.
Felecia Lucky, BBCF president, said the organization received funding to participate in W.K. Kellogg Foundation’s national process of Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation.
After receiving the funding helped BBCF was able to address the topics in the Selma and Dallas County communities.
Lucky said the organizations are happy to open the floor to the public for their input on the topic.
“We are looking forward to sharing the outcome of this work along with gauging the public’s input for involvement,” she said. “We will also have an opportunity to discuss future re-granting opportunities for other community organizations who wish to partner.”
Through their partnerships with local organizations, BBCF is making strides to engage the community even further.
“We have solidified community partnerships led by the Selma Center for Nonviolence, Truth and Reconciliation and have begun some programmatic outreach to engage the community,” Lucky said. “This summer, our design teams composed of volunteers and local leadership have all been working hard to put together program specifics while setting the next steps for the year ahead,” Lucky said.
The three design groups, law, economy and separation, were formed to work on designing the next programmatic steps for TRHT Selma.
All guests must RSVP, and the first 50 RSVPs will be guaranteed a free dinner for the meeting.
