Old Cahawba Archeological Park is planning ahead for the fall season. Jonathon Mathews said the park is planning its annual haunted tours for Saturday Oct. 20 and 27.

“We’ve got the Haunted History Tours coming up in October,” he said. “It’s a rare night time event for Old Cahawba. We are a day use park only, but on these two nights of the year we are open to night time visitors who have booked a ticket on our wagon.”

The first half of the 90-minute tour will begin in one of the historic cemeteries. Then, during the second half of the tour, the Alabama Paranormal Research Group will host a mini-investigation on the grounds.

“What makes this event special is that unlike other Halloween and haunted history type of events, we’re not wearing costumes or makeup, or jumping out trying to scare people,” Mathews said. “These ghost stories we share are authentic, and we share them at the authentic location too.”

The tickets are $20 per person and are on a first come first serve basis.

Old Cahawba is a historical site of the Alabama Historical Commission.
