George Radford Register, Jr. 
George Radford Register, Jr. passed away at his home on August 30, 2018.
George was born on February 5th, 1944, in Pensacola, Florida. He attended Marion Military Institute and graduated from The University of Alabama where he was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. George moved to Selma, Alabama, after his marriage to Evelyn Jackson where he began working in the family business – Jackson Clothing Company. He spent most of his career working for the State of Alabama as Chief of Field Operations for the Department of Industrial Relations until his retirement in 2010.
Upon his retirement he enjoyed boating at the beach, all University of Alabama sports, hunting with family and friends, and most of all spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. He was an active member of Church Street United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee and was a member of the Finance Committee. He especially enjoyed The Guys’ Sunday School Class.
George was preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. George Radford Register, Sr., his mother and father-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Chester Jackson, Sr., and his brother-in-law Cecil Chester Jackson, Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years Evelyn Jackson Register, one daughter Alison Register Roberts, two sons George Radford Register, III (Amanda), Cecil Jackson Register (Marti), seven grandchildren, Mary Evelyn Butler, Alice Gray Butler, Sarah Elizabeth Butler, Allison Katherine Register, George Radford Register, IV, Mary Chappell Register, and Jackson Mathis Register, by sister-in-law Martha Coon Jackson, by nieces and nephew, Beth Jackson Hughes, Joseph Walton Jackson, and Celia Jackson Teel.
Pallbearers are Joe Sexton, Dennis Sweeney, Wayne Vardaman, Dr. Jerry Dillard, Jim Wheeler and Eddie Livingston.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m.Tuesday, September 4th at Church Street United Methodist Church with the Reverend Lance Eiland and Reverend Tony Hughes officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow at New Live Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 12:30-2:00 p.m. at the Church.
