A suspect was arrested in a shooting that occurred on the 1300 block of Highland Avenue Monday afternoon.
Shaquille Tyus, 23, of 918 Dallas County Road 306, was charged Monday night with two counts of attempted murder from the shooting of Trendarius Hill. Hill, 21, was shot in the head.
Tyus is being held in the Dallas County Jail with no bond. Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson said bond was set for $2.5 million.
Selma Police Chief Spencer Collier said the second count comes from Tyus shooting at Hill’s brother, who was with him, but was not hit. Collier did not identify Hill’s brother.
Collier said Hill was Tyus’ target, not his brother. Collier also said Tyus had an altercation with Hill on Sunday night and shot him after seeing him on Labor Day around 1 p.m.
After the shooting Monday, Hill was airlifted to the University of South Alabama in Mobile.
The Selma CID and Crime Scene units and investigators were called out to assist with the crime.
A preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 2 at 9 p.m. and Judge Bob Armstrong will be preside the case.
