The boys aren’t the only group well represented in the AHSAA regional finals in Montgomery and Mobile.

Dallas and Perry County have a combined four teams fighting for their chance to play in Birmingham for the state title.

Down in Mobile, the Selma Lady Saints will be in a clash of No. 2 versus No. 3 when they play LeFlore High School.

“They (LeFlore) are a team that likes to get out and press the whole game,” Lady Saints head coach Anthony Harris said. “Right there that tells you how good of a game it will be. They have two good guards that do a great job of penetrating the lane that we are going to have to contain.”

One place the Lady Saints should have an advantage is with their post play.

“Our inside play should help us,” Harris said. “We have to take it to them in the post in order to try to get them into some foul trouble.”

“It will be an interesting match-up. Hopefully our fans can come down, because they are going to have some support being a Mobile team.”

Southside-Selma is preparing to take on Midfield in their match-up of two teams who have similar philosophies as far as defense is concerned.

“What they like to do is press the whole game,” Lady Panther head coach April O’neal said. “That’s what we like to do as well so it should be neck and neck. It’s really going to come out of a mental thing.

“There is all of these new things our girls are going to have to deal with when it comes to the crowd and the length of the court. I think that’s going to be the difference.”
