Krystal Dozier has been an employee with the Selma City School system for many years.
With 11 years to her resume, she now serves as the Cedar Park Elementary School’s Library Media Specialist.
“I am a Selma native and a product of Selma City Schools,” she said. “I matriculated through Edgewood Elementary School, Westside Junior High School now known as R.B. Hudson Middle School and Selma High School.
“Teaching brings me joy to expose students to the unknown through reading,” Dozier said. “I take pleasure in motivating students to read through unique events such as book tastings, flashlight Fridays and reading fairs. Book tastings give students an opportunity to “taste” several books from various genres in a restaurant setting. Flashlight Fridays allow students to read after school in the StarBooks Cafe located in the school’s library using a flashlight. Students are encouraged to take a comprehension test using Accelerated Reader. The Reading Fair is similar to a Science Fair except the highlight is a book of choice by the student.
“I am actively involved in my community through volunteering with the American Cancer Society,” she said.
