“The players worked hard this year,” Thacker said. “Being in the All-Star game is something the kids strive for and it’s a lot of pride for them. It’s a testament to our kids. All except Dione, have been at Morgan Academy their whole lives.”
Harrelson is in her fifth year as Morgan Academy’s cheerleading coach and thrilled at their success. Morgan Academy cheerleaders won the East AISA championship during the summer.
“The three seniors–Granthum, Beers and Haugen– all tried out to be on the AISA All-Star squad and only 24 were chosen,” Harrelson said. “All three made the squad. This is a big accomplishment for them and Morgan Academy.”
Thacker, also Morgan Academy’s Athletic Director, praised Harrelson’s leadership and dedication.
“The cheerleaders and Alex both did a great job this season,” Thacker said. “They won back to back state championships.”
