Valley Grande Christmas in the Park takes place Saturday

The Valley Grande Christmas in the Park program will be held Saturday night at Valley Grande City Park.

The event starts at 5 p.m. and will end at 7 p.m.

Dallas County Probate Judge and Commission Chairman Kim Ballard will light the Christmas Tree because he’s retiring from office this month. City Clerk Janet Frasier said Ballard confirmed that he will be at the event.

Valley Grande councilwoman Tammy Troha said two fire trucks will be used for the event. One fire truck will bring in Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus. The Valley Grande Christmas Pageant winners will arrive to the event in another fire truck.

Pageant winners expected to attend are Miss Valley Grande Queen Melanie Ochoa and Little Miss Christmas Angel Lauren Dailey (10-12 age division); Little Miss Valley Grande Queen Lillian Stacey Yeager and Little Miss Christmas Angel Trinity Paige Sudsberry (7-9 age division); Tiny Miss Valley Grande queen Harper Shane Lee and Tiny Miss Christmas Angel Addalyn Claire Blackmon (4-6 age division) and Baby Miss Valley Grande Queen and Baby Miss Christmas Angel Kashlyn Taylor Burton (3-year-old and younger age division).

Vendors, train rides and people singing Christmas Carols will also be part of the event.

Troha said Lane Bracken decorated the tree and lights and the haybales were also painted.
