Is the Alabama football Dynasty over?

I’m sure there’s a big celebration across America because Alabama no longer sits atop the college football landscape.

We all know what happened Monday night in Santa Clara, California: Clemson hammered the top-ranked Crimson Tide 44-16 on Monday at Levi Stadium.

Outside the state, I’ve often run into people who despise Alabama football. Most of them I knew over the last 26 years always took pleasure ripping Alabama to shreds whenever the Crimson Tide lost.

Believe me, some of these folks were so clueless that Sherlock Holmes couldn’t clue them in about how games are won and lost. Mainly, they hate Alabama because the Crimson Tide always beat their teams.

Even the national media’s coverage of Alabama has gotten absurd, especially most of the announcers who call their games outside the CBS TV Network and SEC Network.

I’ve gotten to a point where I only watch the games and avoid pre-game shows unless there’s a must-see profile that catches my attention. Social media like Facebook and Twitter are equally silly as fans provide their coaching suggestions.

Like most Dallas County residents, I’m a huge Alabama football fan. Monday night’s game was enjoyable as watching the sequel to Smokey and the Bandit (By the way, Sundance aired it last weekend).

I won’t deny that Clemson gave Alabama a good old-fashioned butt-whipping. Clemson wanted its national title back and stomped the Crimson Tide in the process.

Crimson Tide quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was subpar and got outplayed by Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence. I’m sure some felt that Jalen Hurts should’ve replaced Tagovailoa in the second half, but not me. Clemson took away Tagovailoa’s comfort zone from the start and the left-handed sophomore couldn’t recover.

Alabama fans better brace themselves for what I’m about to say next: the great Crimson Tide dynasty is coming to an end.  The Crimson Tide has never been dominated like this under coach Nick Saban. He also got outcoached by Dabo Swinney and it wasn’t the same Crimson Tide squad we’re accustomed to seeing.

I’ve always felt that Saban breaking Bear Bryant’s record for most national championships would be difficult to reach. I know there’s always next year with Alabama being loaded again, but Clemson will be strong too. Based on what I saw Monday night, a new dynasty is in the making.
