Something positive happened for GWC this week in the form of a Mardi Gras party.

GWC has been the setting for two murders this year. It is often called a dangerous environment by citizens of Selma.

It is good that GWC was able to experience an event that brought the citizens in that neighborhood out with smiles on their faces.

It is no secret that Selma has images and preconceptions to work against.

Those that are working to clean up places with problems like the ones that GWC has such as crime are in place to give the citizens of those neighborhoods a chance to turn things around.

If we work together to improve the morale and the public opinion of our city, there’s nothing we can’t accomplish.

It won’t be done overnight, but it can be started by all of us working together and by continuing to hold events like this.
